There are two common models in Bangladesh. The first is a full package or FOB price per piece with the buying house margin built into it: you see one price per garment, and the supplier carries the cost of fabric, trims, production and inspection. The second is a commission on the factory price, usually a percentage, with sampling and inspection either included or charged separately. Neither model is inherently better, but you should always ask which one is being used, because it changes how a quote is read. Ask also whether sampling, laboratory testing, courier charges and third-party inspection are inside the price or extra. We tell you which model a quotation uses, and what is included, on the quote itself. If your own buyer or investor needs that broken down for their records, we can supply the split.

We choose between our sister factory, Collective Studio Ltd., and our audited partner factories by matching three things: product, compliance and quantity. Product comes first, because Bangladeshi factories specialise. A unit making excellent jersey t-shirts is rarely the right one for fine-gauge knitwear, seam-sealed outerwear or washed denim, which needs its own wash plant. Compliance comes next: your market and retailer decide which audits and certificates the site must hold, so we shortlist factories that already hold them rather than promising an upgrade. Quantity comes last, but it rules out plenty: a factory built for tens of thousands of pieces a week will not give your few hundred pieces proper attention, which is why small orders go to our sister factory. Before production starts we tell you which factory will make your order, share its audit reports, and confirm in writing that the order will not be moved without your agreement.

Yes. We encourage buyers to visit, and we will arrange the visit, the schedule and transport from Dhaka. If you cannot travel, we can run a live video walkthrough of the cutting, sewing and finishing floors, or arrange a virtual pre-production meeting with the factory team. You are also free to appoint a third-party inspection company such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or a local firm, and to have them attend inline or final inspection; we will book the inspection window and prepare the goods. Independent inspection does not offend us. It usually makes a first order smoother, because everyone works to the same written standard. What we ask in return is that the inspection standard, AQL level and measurement tolerances are agreed in writing before production, so nobody is arguing about criteria on the day.

CMB Sourcing Ltd. was founded by AB Rahman and Homaira Jashim, who have known each other since school, for more than 15 years. AB Rahman, the founder, leads marketing and client relationships, is based in Australia, holds a Master’s in marketing and consumer behaviour from Curtin University and worked in fashion retail sales at Myer before starting the company. Homaira Jashim, the co-founder, runs production from Narayanganj, from the first conversation to delivery, and is also a co-founder of our sister company in Narayanganj, Collective Studio Ltd., where AB is Head of Growth. So one founder knows what shoppers and brands expect, and the other knows a factory floor from sampling to shipment. CMB Sourcing Ltd. and Collective Studio Ltd. are sister companies. CMB Sourcing’s co-founder Homaira Jashim is a co-founder of Collective Studio, a garment factory in Narayanganj, and CMB Sourcing’s founder AB Rahman is its Head of Growth. Collective Studio has its own website, prices and minimum, and we can place our own orders in its factory. Our own orders start at 500 pieces per style and colour, so knit and cut-and-sew runs from 150 pieces per style and colour are made by Collective Studio, managed by us with the same sampling and inspection and priced separately by Collective Studio. We state the link openly because a buyer should know who gains from a recommendation. A buying house earns its fee by choosing the right factory for each product, not by filling one factory’s lines, so each order goes to the factory that suits the product, fabric and compliance your market needs: our sister factory, Collective Studio Ltd., or an audited partner factory. Whichever factory makes your order, you are told its name and address in writing before production starts.

We publish only proof that carries a number or a link, and nothing that you cannot check for yourself. Before paying any supplier, ask for its trade licence and registration documents, and check that the company name on them matches the invoice. Then check the factory: we name it in writing, with its address and audit reports, before production starts.

Yes: the promises that an order can carry are written into the order confirmation you sign before anything is cut, and the rest are working rules you can hold CMB Sourcing Ltd. to. The confirmation fixes the delivery date the factory has committed to against its capacity, the factory’s name and address with its current audit reports and certificates, the sealed sample reference, the measurement tolerances, the tests to be done, and what happens if a date moves on either side. That covers three of our six promises: dates confirmed in writing, every document before production, and no hidden subcontracting, because a change of factory needs your written agreement. The other two, replies within one working day and problems reported early with options, are how we work every day.

CMB Sourcing Ltd. suits brands, retailers and online sellers that order at least 500 pieces per style and colour, make more than one type of product and have no team in Bangladesh. T-shirts and hoodies start at that 500, and the minimum is higher in some categories: 2,000 for denim, jackets, woven shirts, workwear and uniforms, 5,000 pieces for underwear and 5,000 pairs for socks. Within that range we manage sampling, production, inspection and shipping, and place each style in our sister factory, Collective Studio Ltd., or an audited partner factory that specialises in it. We are the wrong choice in three cases. We do not sell single pieces, retail or ready-made stock. And a brand with large repeat volumes of one product and its own team in Bangladesh usually does better buying direct.
