Clothing manufacturers in Narayanganj
Narayanganj was a textile trading centre long before the modern garment industry existed, and that history shows in its structure: many mid-size specialist units rather than a handful of giants. For brands that are past their first sample but not yet ordering in tens of thousands, this is frequently where the right factory is.

A district of specialists
Where Gazipur is defined by scale, Narayanganj is defined by specialisation. Knitwear and hosiery units, washing and dyeing plants, and the finishing services that denim depends on are concentrated here in a way that suits buyers who need a specific process done well rather than a very large quantity done quickly.
The washing and laundry capacity matters more than it sounds. Garment dyeing, enzyme and stone washes and denim finishing are separate industrial processes with their own plants, and having them close to the sewing units removes days of transport from a schedule that already has a wash stage built into it.
Where small and mid-size orders belong
The awkward truth of Bangladeshi sourcing is that the country’s strength, enormous scale, is exactly what makes it hard for a young brand to get in. Narayanganj is where that problem is most often solved, because a mid-size unit can take an order that a composite giant would treat as an interruption.
It is also where our named production partner, Collective Studio Ltd., is based. We do not take 100-piece orders ourselves; when yours is that size, we place it with them, disclosed, and manage it for you.
- Mid-size knit units that will quote quantities the big mills decline
- Washing and dyeing plants close to the sewing floor
- Adamjee EPZ for zone-based export production
- Short road distance to Dhaka for samples, trims and inspections
- Small quantities from 100 pieces per style through our disclosed partner
Adamjee EPZ
Adamjee EPZ is one of the export processing zones run by BEPZA, the government authority that administers Bangladesh’s zones. Factories inside a zone operate under BEPZA’s own approvals and investor facilities, with administrative handling designed around exporters.
For a buyer, the practical relevance is not the tax structure, which is the investor’s concern, but the operating environment: zone factories tend to be purpose-built and geared entirely to export work. Whether that suits your order depends on the product and the quantity, and we will tell you when it does not.
What to watch for
Specialisation cuts both ways. A unit that is excellent at knit basics may not have the machinery or skill set for tailored outerwear, and a smaller factory has less slack in its capacity when something goes wrong upstream.
So the checks matter more, not less: audit status verified before placing, fabric tested before cutting, inline inspection from the first bundles rather than at the end. That is the same protocol we run everywhere, but in a district of smaller units it is what keeps a good price from turning into an expensive lesson.

Producing in Narayanganj: common questions.
Why is Narayanganj better for smaller orders?
Because of factory size, not price. Bangladesh’s great strength is scale, and that is precisely what shuts out a young brand: a mill built for tens of thousands of pieces a week loses money changing over its lines for a few hundred, so it either declines your order or gives it the attention left over after the big ones. Narayanganj is structured differently. It grew as a district of specialists, with many mid-size knit, hosiery and washing units rather than a handful of giants, and those units can quote quantities the large mills turn away. For genuinely small runs, from 100 pieces per style and colour, we place the order with our named partner Collective Studio Ltd., which is based here, and manage the production ourselves. We say that openly because you should always know which building your goods are made in.
Does having washing plants nearby actually change my lead time?
Yes, and more than most buyers expect. Garment dyeing, enzyme and stone washing and denim finishing are separate industrial processes carried out in dedicated plants, not on the sewing floor. If your garment needs a wash, it physically leaves the factory, is processed, and comes back before finishing and packing. When that plant is twenty minutes away rather than a long drive through congested roads, you remove days of transport and waiting from the schedule, and you remove risk too: goods sitting on a truck are goods nobody is inspecting. Narayanganj has that capacity clustered tightly, which is one reason washed and garment-dyed programmes often sit well here. We plan the wash as a scheduled stage with its own buffer and its own approval point, because a wash that has to be repeated is one of the most expensive delays in garment production.
